REXI PROFESSIONAL SKATING OY

Skating has fallen behind the international level we are used to. It has been neglected as part of the essential tools of a hockey player and we see the results. My name is Reijo Ruotsalainen and I want to bring my years of knowledge and experience to all players and help them develop to their fullest potential. In many countries, there has been much potential in hockey players lost because of premature skill assessment. Skating is seen as something that cannot be trained. Other countries have put the hard work into developing this skill and are reaping the rewards.

At Rexi Professional Skating Oy we offer a comprehensive skating assessment and development package for young athletes as well as aspiring and current professionals. Often the individual is overlooked in the team-training culture, but we can change that by providing a service that allows personally tailored skating instruction exactly where it is needed.

DEFENCE CAMP

Hockey has changed over the recent years as more and more of the 5-man squad is responsible for the defense. The game has become faster but individual skill is less outstanding. Over time, playing as a 5-man unit erodes the individual skills and understanding of one’s own tactical understanding of the game. Tactical and strategic actions become limited. These fundamental skills must be looked after on an individual level.

  • Defenseman Specific skating techniques
  • Body contact and positioning
  • Defending against multiple attackers
  • 1 vs 1 play
  • Purposeful puck movement
  • Shot blocking
  • Active stick defense
  • Shooting techinques
  • Outlet passing
  • Gap control

Camps are available for different levels of players ranging from youth to professional, and on request, individual follow-up can be arranged. These focus on the development and up-keep of personal game sense and skills. Generally the camps take place during the summer.
